I've painted-up a full 12-soldier squad of Unified Marine Corps infantry. Now that I can see the camouflage pattern on a large group of figures, I'm happier with the design. Next to the squad leader are marines armed with an ATGM launcher, & a GPMG. These are 15mm scale miniatures - Rebel Minis Earth Force Marines.
Wow, what an explosion of colour! It makes such a change, and I have to say, I like it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was thinking of a setting for Tomorrow's War, I really wanted a change from the dark, grim, ruined urban of my Warhammer 40K collection, & the dusty drabness of my Middle East Force on Force stuff!
DeleteI'll have to try making some Tomorrow's War buildings now. I've been thinking 'high-tech Mediterranean-style white-washed'.
They look good en masse. Can imagine these guys advancing through that jungle.
ReplyDeleteDoes the guy front row, second from right have a special weapon? (SAW equivalent?)
Yeah, I think they look fairly intimidating & professional. I'm treating that guy as having a GPMG - there's a belt of ammo being fed from his backpack, but it doesn't show up well in the photo. I may try modding some of the rifles to represent SAW-type weapons though.
DeleteAnother option is the rarely seen LMG, which I think works like a SAW but causes suppression like a GPMG.
DeleteThat's a possibility, although if I'm going to have SAWs anyway, that one should probably be a GPMG for heavier squad support. Although it doesn't have a bipod, it seems to be the size of a M240, & the operator appears to be able to handle it on his own (belt-fed from backpack), I see this as a near-future tech improvement over today's GPMGs.
DeleteI'm thinking a UMC squad may have access to heavier weapons mounted on tracked gun platforms, unless they are scouting etc.
Wow! I want to play on that table with those minis! So unique, yet a believable camo scheme.
ReplyDeleteThanks :-)
